Meierer and Riordan Earn KCAC Softball Weekly Honors

KANSAS — Maddy Meierer of No. 25 Evangel University and Cambell Riordan of (RV) Friends University have earned the KCAC Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Monday. The two student-athletes were selected for their performances from Feb. 16-22 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by Athletic Solutions.
 
 

Pitcher of the Week

Maddy Meierer - #25 Evangel University

Jr. | P | NIxa, Mo.

Meierer faced a tough task for Evangel last weekend, taking on the #8 CMU Eagles and the #2 OKC Stars in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Maddy finished her week going 1-1, throwing a pair of complete games, as the Valor were able to defeat the 2nd-ranked team in the nation, with Meierer striking out five and allowing just one earned run in the win. This marks the third consecutive week in which Meierer has been named the KCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week

Player of the Week

Cambell Riordan - (RV) Friends University

So. | 1B | Wichita, Kan.

Riordon had a truly historic week for the (RV) Friends University Falcons, batting .571 with three home runs and 20 RBIs. Riordan's output was highlighted by a single-game modern-era record nine RBIs in the Falcons' 17-3 romp of Columbia College. She also got on base at a .625 clip and slugged 1.250 in the Falcons' nine games this past week In her first year at Friends, Riordan ranks first in the KCAC in RBIs (22), tied for first in home runs (three) and fourth in batting average (.525).
