KCAC and ESPN 92.3 "Road to Hartman" Doubleheader of the Week: Friends at Ottawa

WICHITA, Kan. — This week's KCAC "Road to Hartman" Doubleheader of the Week, presented by ESPN Wichita 92.3, will be the women's and men's basketball games between Friends University and Ottawa University on Wednesday, February 7, the conference office announced Tuesday. The women's game will tip off at 6 PM CST, with the men's to follow at 8 PM CST. 

In its second year, this series highlights KCAC teams throughout conference play with radio broadcasts on ESPN Wichita 92.3 FM, as teams aim to make it to the KCAC Men's and Women's Basketball Championship finals at Hartman Arena on March 4, 2024. Pat Strathman, the Sports Director of ESPN Wichita 92.3 FM, will be on the call for these broadcasts. 
 


  
The Friends women's basketball team currently sits at 17-5 on the season, including a 14-2 record in KCAC play. That conference record puts them at No. 3 in the conference standings. The Falcons are currently on a nine-game winning streak, having not lost since January 3. Friends' last game was against Bethany College on Saturday in Wichita, which the Falcons won 75-66.

The Ottawa women's basketball team is 13-9 so far on the season, with an 8-8 record in the conference. The Braves currently sit at No. 7 in the KCAC women's basketball conference standings. Ottawa will be looking to extend their winning streak, which is up to two games. The Braves' last contest was against Bethel College on Saturday in North Newton, which Ottawa won 65-64 on a game-winner by Kennedy Bankett with five seconds left in the game.

The two teams faced off earlier this season in Wichita on Dec. 2. Friends took that game by a score of 77-61.
 

The Friends men's basketball team is 8-13 overall this season, with a 5-11 record in the KCAC. That conference record places them in the No. 11 spot in the conference standings. The Falcons' last game was against Bethany College on Saturday in Wichita, which Friends won 79-72.

The Ottawa men's basketball team is 13-9 overall on the season, with an 8-8 record in conference play. Their conference record puts them in the No. 6 spot in the KCAC men's basketball conference standings. In their most recent game, the Braves took on Bethel College in North Newton on Saturday, with Ottawa winning that matchup 83-75.

Friends and Ottawa faced off earlier this season, on Dec. 2 in Wichita. Ottawa won that matchup, taking down the Falcons 97-91.
