WICHITA, Kan. — This week's KCAC "Road to Hartman" Doubleheader of the Week, presented by ESPN Wichita 92.3, will be the women's and men's basketball games between Oklahoma Wesleyan University and Sterling College on Wednesday, February 21, the conference office announced Tuesday. The women's game will tip off at 6 PM CST, with the men's to follow at 8 PM CST.
In its second year, this series highlights KCAC teams throughout conference play with radio broadcasts on ESPN Wichita 92.3 FM, as teams aim to make it to the KCAC Men's and Women's Basketball Championship finals at Hartman Arena on March 4, 2024. Pat Strathman, the Sports Director of ESPN Wichita 92.3 FM, will be on the call for these broadcasts.
The Oklahoma Wesleyan women's basketball team holds a 10-16 record so far on the season, with an 8-12 mark in the KCAC. That record puts the Eagles in a tie with Sterling and Avila University for the No. 8 spot in the KCAC Women's Basketball standings. Oklahoma Wesleyan has won two games in a row and will be looking to extend their winning streak. The Eagles' last game was against Avila on Saturday at home in Bartlesville, which OKWU won 57-50.
The Sterling women's basketball team is currently 11-15 overall, with an 8-12 record in conference play. As was mentioned above, OKWU and Sterling sit in a tie, along with Avila, for No. 8 in the KCAC Women's Basketball standings. The Warriors are looking to snap a two-game losing streak. Sterling's last contest was against Evangel University on Saturday in Springfield, where the Warriors fell 85-70 to the Valor.
The Eagles and Warriors faced off in Bartlesville on Jan. 6, with Oklahoma Wesleyan winning that matchup by a score of 75-65.
The Oklahoma Wesleyan men's basketball team has a 25-1 overall record on the season to this point, with a 19-1 mark in the KCAC. The Eagles sit atop the KCAC Men's Basketball standings, leading Southwestern College by three games. Oklahoma Wesleyan is on an astounding 17-game winning streak, having not lost since December 2 against the Moundbuilders. The Eagles' last game was against Avila on Saturday in Bartlesville, which Oklahoma Wesleyan won 68-53.
The Sterling men's basketball team sits at 11-14 overall on the season, with a 7-13 record in the conference. The Warriors are currently in the No. 11 spot in the KCAC Men's Basketball standings. Sterling's last game was against Evangel on Saturday in Springfield, which the Valor won 82-60.
The two teams met once already this season, on January 6 in Bartlesville. The Eagles took that game by a score of 74-67.
