Tigers Crowned Champions at KCAC Swimming and Diving Championships

ELKHART, Ind. – Olivet Nazarene University was crowned both the Women’s and Men’s KCAC Champions in Swimming and Diving during the 2024 KCAC Swimming and Diving Championships held at the Aquatics Center at Elkhart Health and Aquatics. The Tigers carried a 137-point lead in the Women’s Championship and a 193-point lead in the Men’s Championship while breaking 14 Meet Records during the three-day event held on February 8-10.

Julieta Vega of Olivet Nazarene was named the KCAC Female Swimmer of the Meet, scoring a total of 60 points while breaking three individual meet records. Vega won all three individual events in which she was entered, setting the KCAC meet record in the Women’s 50 Yard Freestyle, the Women’s 100 Yard Breaststroke, and the Women’s 200 Yard Breaststroke.

Kayla Parry of Olivet Nazarene was named the KCAC Female Freshman of the Meet. Parry set the meet records in the Women’s 400 Yard Individual Medley and the Women’s 200 Yard Butterfly while scoring 57 points for the Tigers.

Deb Thompson of host Bethel University was named the KCAC Female Coach of the Year. Thompson’s Pilots finished the Championships with 648 points and were the Meet Runner-Up.

Jack Fries and Timothy Braun, both of Olivet Nazarene, were named the Co-KCAC Male Swimmers of the Meet, each scoring a total of 60 points and winning all three of the individual events in which they were entered. Fries was the Meet Champion in the Men’s 200 Yard Individual Medley (meet record), the Men’s 100 Yard Backstroke (meet record), and the Men’s 200 Yard Backstroke.  Braun was Meet Champion in the Men’s 50 Yard Freestyle, the Men’s 200 Yard Freestyle (meet record), and the Men’s 100 Yard Freestyle.

Oliver Shead of Olivet Nazarene was named the KCAC Male Freshman of the Meet. Shead finished the meet with 49 points and was Meet Champion in the Men’s 200 Yard Butterfly.

Aquinas College’s Kristy Hepp was named the KCAC Male Coach of the Year. The Saints men finished the meet with 499 points in third place. Diver Evan Bennett won the Men’s One-Meter Dive, setting the meet record with a score of 259.00.
