WICHITA, Kan. — Dordt University (Iowa) will be joining the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) as a per-sport member in Men's Swimming & Diving and Women's Swimming & Diving for the 2024-25 season, the conference office announced Tuesday. This year is the first of competition in men's and women's swimming & diving for the Defenders.
"I am ecstatic that the KCAC has invited us to be a member in their swimming competition. This is very important for our program to be a part of a reputable conference that competes at a high level. This membership gives our program credibility as our athletes will have the opportunity to compete for conference championships this year," said Dordt head swim coach Mason Youngblood.
"We are grateful the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference has added Dordt University as a per-sport member for men's and women's swimming," Darin Keizer, Director of Athletics at Dordt, stated. "The KCAC has a rich tradition of athletics in their conference and has a well-established swimming program. We look forward to competing with the conference members as we build our men's and women's swim programs."
The Dordt men's swimming & diving team will be the eighth men's team in the conference, joining full-member schools Sterling College and the University of Saint Mary, as well as per-sport members Olivet Nazarene University, Bethel University, Aquinas College, Midland University, and Morningside University. On the women's side, the Defenders will be the tenth women's swimming & diving team in the KCAC, joining full-member schools Sterling College and the University of Saint Mary, as well as per-sport members Olivet Nazarene University, Bethel University, Aquinas College, Midland University, Morningside University, College of Saint Mary, and the University of Jamestown.
"We are thrilled to welcome the Dordt University men's and women's swimming programs to the KCAC this year. With eight men's teams and 10 women's teams, the KCAC is one of the most competitive swimming conferences in the NAIA.
