KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Ottawa (Kan.) senior goalkeeper Alex Neri claimed the first PrestoSports NAIA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award after the Braves’ 1-0 upset of No. 3 MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.), the national office announced Tuesday.
Neri withstood 19 MNU shots, five on frame for saves, including a save in the 89th minute that preserved the upset.
In addition to his save in the 89th, Neri collected saves in the 39th, 48th, 68th, and 70th minutes.

The Braves were 1-1 last week, moving to 1-1-1 on the year by beating MNU before falling to Benedictine (Kan.). Ottawa continues out-of-conference play against another Heart opponent Saturday, at No. 21 Baker (Kan.), at 6:30 p.m. CT.
