KANSAS — Jorge Batista of (RV) Bethel College and Silva Avakian of Friends University have earned the KCAC Men's and Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Monday. The two student-athletes were selected for their performances from March 30-April 5 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by

Batista went undefeated at No. 1 singles, leading Bethel to two 7-0 wins over Tabor and Saint Mary. He won 6-0, 6-1 vs. Tabor and battled back for a three-set win (6-7, 6-4, 6-2) vs. Saint Mary. In doubles, he picked up two 6-1 wins at #3 and #2 doubles. This marks the second time this season Batista has been named the KCAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week.

Avakian, the No. 11-ranked singles player in the ITA NAIA Women's Singles Rankings, emerged victorious in two more singles and doubles matches from the No. 1 position to lead the Friends University Falcons to two team victories at Bethany College and vs. Evangel University. Avakian is now 14-1 overall and remains undefeated in KCAC singles matches this season. This is the second time this season Avakian has been named the KCAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
