Batista and Espinal Earn KCAC Tennis Weekly Honors

KANSAS — Jorge Batista of (RV) Bethel College and Rocio Espinal of Oklahoma Wesleyan University have earned the KCAC Men's and Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Monday. The two student-athletes were selected for their performances from March 16-22 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by Athletic Solutions.

Batista went undefeated at No. 1 singles and doubles, helping Bethel to two 7-0 wins over Sterling and Evangel. He earned a three-set win over Pedro Felipoff (2-6, 7-6, 7-6 (10-8)) and a straight-set win over Angel Gomez (6-1, 6-3). In doubles, he partnered with Billy Haoda for wins over Felipoff/Bogomoltz (6-3) and Moya/Chavarria (6-1).

Espinal picked up two wins in No. 1 Singles and two wins in No. 1 doubles last week, as Oklahoma Wesleyan defeated Saint Mary and Sterling to move to 4-0 in conference play.
