KANSAS — Addie Herrera of Kansas Wesleyan University and Brooklyn Purtell of (RV) Oklahoma Wesleyan University have earned the KCAC Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Monday. The two student-athletes were selected for their performances from March 23-29 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by
Athletic Solutions.

Herrera was outstanding for the KWU Softball Coyotes in two games this week in the circle. She tossed two complete-game shutouts, including a one-hitter against Southwestern. She scattered three hits in the win over York University. She struck out 12 along the way, including eight against Southwestern against only one walk. She finished the week with a 0.36 WHIP.

Purtell put together what may be the best week of her collegiate career, following two weeks in which she did not play due to the loss of her father. She went 8 of 15 at the plate (.615 average) with four doubles, a triple, and two home runs. Purtell scored five runs herself, and then batted in 13 runs.
