LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – University of Saint Mary Vice President of Athletics Rob Miller announced on June 6 the hiring of Jay Monhollon as the next head softball coach of the Spires.
Monhollon comes to USM after 12 years as the head softball coach at Seaman High School in Topeka, Kansas. During his tenure, he led the Vikings to a 225-63 record, one state championship, four conference championships, and nine regional championships. He was a three-time District Coach of the Year and four-time Conference Coach of the Year. Monhollon was also recognized as the Kansas Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 2016 and 2024, NFHS Midwest Regional Coach of the Year in 2016, and NFHS State Coach of the Year in 2016.
“We’re excited to welcome Coach Monhollon to the Saint Mary family,” Miller said. “His track record of success, commitment to student-athlete development, and passion for the game make him an outstanding fit for our program. We look forward to the future of USM softball under his leadership.”
Monhollon earned a Bachelor of Education from Washburn University and a Master of Education in School Leadership from Baker University.
“I am grateful to the University of Saint Mary for the opportunity to lead their softball program,” Monhollon said. “My goal is to enhance the student-athlete experience by supporting them athletically and academically while creating a championship program.”
