McPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson College Director of Athletics Josh Daume announced Thursday (May 15) that EJ Daffin has been named McPherson College's new Director of Track & Field and Cross Country.
"We are thrilled to welcome EJ to McPherson College," Daume said. "EJ brings a wealth of coaching and competition experience at the NAIA level to MC. He will provide stability within the Track and Field and Cross Country programs that will allow our athletes to succeed both on and off the playing field. I'm looking forward to getting him on-campus and supporting him and his student-athletes as they compete for championships."
Daffin comes to McPherson College after a previous stop at Missouri Baptist University where he served at the head track and field coach for one season. While the headman of the Spartans, Daffin coached four American Midwest Conference (AMC) champions and 12 AMC indoor all-conference athletes.
"I am extremely excited to be part of the MC community," Daffin said. "I am looking forward to the opportunity to grow the program and develop student-athletes as they take their journey through McPherson College."
Prior to his arrival at MBU, Daffin spent three seasons as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II University of Charleston in Charleston, West Virginia. Daffin coached 23 MEC champions and helped a pair of Golden Eagles qualify for the NCAA Division II national meet.
Daffin also made stops at Siena Heights University, Benedictine College, and Highland Community College, coaching 16 All-Americans in total, three at the NJCAA level, and 13 at the NAIA level. He also helped coach a pair of NAIA National Champions while at SHU.
An outstanding athlete in his own right, Daffin was an All-American high jumper, a six-time national qualifier, and a four-time WHAC all-conference performer at Siena Heights. He was also an NAIA and WHAC Champions of Character award recipient.
Daffin graduated from Siena Heights in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in Multidisciplinary Studies. He received a master's degree in Athletic Coaching in 2019 from Northcentral University.
