Johnson, Neal, and Ferguson Earn KCAC Women's Volleyball Weekly Honors

KANSAS — Simone Johnson of Evangel University, Lynzee Neal of Friends University, and Abby Ferguson, also of Evangel, have earned this week's KCAC Women's Volleyball Attacker, Setter, and Defender of the Week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Monday. The three student-athletes were selected for their performances from Sept. 7-13 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by Athletic Solutions.
 

Attacker of the Week

Simone Johnson - Evangel University

Johnson had a strong weekend as the Valor went 2-0, sweeping their competition in straight sets. Johnson finished with 23 total kills, swinging just five attacking errors, finishing with a .429 attacking percentage. To highlight her weekend, Johnson recorded 11 kills on just 15 swings with no errors against Stephens, recording an astounding .733 attacking percentage in the win.

Setter of the Week

Lynzee Neal - Friends University

Neal led the Friends University with 5.00 assists per set in three consecutive 3-0 victories this past week. Consistent in all three matches, Neal tallied a career-best 18 assists in the sweep over Haskell. Neal now has 108 assists on the season and climbed to second on the team in assists per set (3.86).

Defender of the Week

Ferguson again had a strong weekend defensively for Evangel, recording 11 blocks over six sets of play in EU’s 2-0 weekend, averaging 2.2 blocks per set for Evangel. This marks the second time this season Ferguson has been named the KCAC Women's Volleyball Defender of the Week.
