Brown, King, and Lopez Earn KCAC Football Weekly Honors

KANSAS — Jalil Brown of No. 21 McPherson College, Brandon King of Tabor College, and Michael Lopez of No. 9 Friends University have earned this week's KCAC Football Offensive, Defensive, and Special Teams Player of the Week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Monday. The three student-athletes were selected for their performances from Sept. 7-13 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by Athletic Solutions.
 
 

Offensive Player of the Week

Jalil Brown - #21 McPherson College

5-10 | 175 lbs. | R-Sr. | RB | Seagoville, Texas


Brown was a major catalyst for the McPherson offense in the team's 21-13 victory over Tabor College, accounting for all three of the team's touchdowns. He tallied 336 all-purpose yards (296 rushing, 40 receiving), a big portion of the team's 427 total yards.

Defensive Player of the Week

Brandon King - Tabor College

5-9 | 170 lbs. | Jr. | DB | Carthage, Texas


King had an outstanding day against McPherson on Saturday, recording two solo tackles and three total tackles, and coming up with two big interceptions against one of the best quarterbacks in the conference, returning one of them for a 97-yard pick-six.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Michael Lopez - #9 Friends University

5-7 | 155 lbs. | Jr. | RB | Wichita, Kan.


For the second straight week, Michael Lopez took a return to the house, this time running back the opening kickoff of the second half 90 yards to paydirt in the No. 9-ranked Friends University Falcons' 83-24 victory at Bethel College on Saturday. A dangerous returner all night, Lopez's other kickoff return at Bethel went for 44 yards. Lopez is now averaging 53.7 yards on three kickoff returns and 22.7 yards on six punt returns this season for the Falcons.
