KANSAS — The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) continues a series to highlight "All-Time" teams from each of our fourteen full-member institutions. By "All-Time," we mean historic teams from each institution, nominated by each athletic department. How each team symbolizes being "historic" for their institution can run the gamut from:
- Championship teams (either at the KCAC or NAIA level)
- Teams with non-championship significance to the KCAC or NAIA
- Teams with particular significance to the institution
- Teams that broke records or hit major statistical landmarks
- Teams that broke a cultural barrier
- And more! We're giving institutions the autonomy to decide what they think makes a team historic or "all-time."
SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE "ALL-TIME" TEAM: 1967 FOOTBALL
Significance to Institution
- First team to be inducted into the Southwesterrn College Athletics Hall of Fame.
- Went 9-0-1; only the second team (1918 football team was the first) to go undefeated on the season.
- Claimed the KCAC conference title in football.
- Individually, twelve members of the 1967 team have entered the Southwestern College Athletics Hall of Fame, along with head coach Bud Elliot.
Significance to KCAC/NAIA:
- 1967 KCAC conference champions in football.
- Nine honorees on the All-KCAC team.
- Dennis Cavalier - unanimous All-KCAC honoree in 1967, also named an NAIA All-American that season.
- Elliot - 1967 KCAC Football Coach of the Year
Significant Stats/Records Accomplished by Team:
- Recorded three shutouts on the season.
- Most points scored in a single game against the team on the season: 14.
- Offense scored 30 or more points five times in 10 games.
