Black and Finocchario Earn KCAC Baseball Weekly Honors

KANSAS — Brett Black of Friends University and Chris Finocchario of No. 10 Kansas Wesleyan University have earned the KCAC Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Monday. The two student-athletes were selected for their performances from April 13-19 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by Athletic Solutions.
 
 

Pitcher of the Week

Brett Black - Friends University

Jr. | RHP | Wichita, Kan.

Black blanked the University of Saint Mary Spires over seven innings to help the Friends University Falcons capture the series opener in a run-rule 10-0 victory. Black had impeccable control with six strikeouts and just one walk with two hits allowed in the complete game effort. Black has lowered his ERA to 4.53 in the shutout victory and an outstanding 36-7 strikeout to walk ratio.

Player of the Week

Chris Finocchario - #10 Kansas Wesleyan University

Jr. | OF | Macedon, N.Y.

Finocchario had a great week as the Coyotes went 4-0 and secured the outright KCAC Baseball regular-season championship. He hit .625 in four games and drove in eight runs, most importantly five runs against York to help KWU win 7-4. He had a .700 on base percentage and slugged at 1.125 for the week. This marks the second time this season Finocchario has been named the KCAC Baseball Player of the Week.
