KANSAS — Laura Gieseler of No. 5 Oklahoma Wesleyan University and Avah Casarez of the University of Saint Mary have earned this week's KCAC Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Monday. The two student-athletes were selected for their performances from Oct. 27-Nov. 2 by a vote of conference sports information directors.

Laura Gieseler - #5 Oklahoma Wesleyan University

Gieseler scored on contributed on 71% of her team's goals last week, as the Eagles added two more wins to their season total. Against Avila on Oct. 29, Gieseler scored all three of the Eagles' goals in a 3-0 victory. On Saturday against York, she scored one goal and dished out an assist, as OKWU took down York 4-0. This marks the third time this season that Gieseler has been named the KCAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

Defensive Player of the Week
Avah Casarez - University of Saint Mary

Casarez recorded two shutouts last week, as the Spires went 1-0-1 on the week (2-0 victory over Evangel, 0-0 tie with Bethel) and secured the No. 6 seed in the KCAC Women's Soccer conference tournament. Her play has been huge down the home stretch in the regular season, only allowing one goal in the last four games (T, 1-1 at Avila Oct. 22).
