KANSAS — The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) is beginning a new series to highlight "All-Time" teams from each of our fourteen full-member institutions. By "All-Time," we mean historic teams from each institution, nominated by each athletic department. How each team symbolizes being "historic" for their institution can run the gamut from:
- Championship teams (either at the KCAC or NAIA level)
- Teams with non-championship significance to the KCAC or NAIA
- Teams with particular significance to the institution
- Teams that broke records or hit major statistical landmarks
- Teams that broke a cultural barrier
- And more! We're giving institutions the autonomy to decide what they think makes a team historic or "all-time."
YORK UNIVERSITY "ALL-TIME" TEAM: 2015-16 MEN'S BASKETBALL
Note: This team competed prior to York joining the KCAC (2016-17 academic year), prior to the change from York College to York University (2022), and prior to the NAIA combining its two basketball divisions into one (occurred in the 2020-21 academic year). In 2015-16, York was competing in the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.), now known as the Continental Athletic Conference.
Significance to Institution: It was the furthest a York team has ever finished at the NAIA national championship level, as this team made it to the quarterfinals of the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Championship tournament.
Conference/National Honors:
- Cameron Coleman - Named 2015-16 A.I.I. Player of the Year.
- Cameron Coleman - Named to 2016 NAIA Division II Men's Basketball All-Tournament Team.
- Cameron Coleman - Named to 2016 NAIA Men's Basketball All-America Team.
- Head Coach Delton Deal - earned the 2016 Don Meyer award (presented annually to the top head coach in NAIA men's basketball).
By the Numbers:
- Finished with a 25-10 overall record.
- A.I.I. Conference Runner-Up.
- Made it to quarterfinals of the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Championship tournament.
- Cameron Coleman - led the team with 639 total points.
