Ward Named KCAC Men's Wrestler of the Week

KANSAS — Luke Ward of (RV) Avila University has been named the KCAC Men's Wrestler of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. Ward was selected for his performances from Feb. 2-8 by a vote of conference Sports Information Directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by Athletic Solutions.

Ward went 6-1 and took 3rd place in the 149-pound class of the Missouri Valley Open on Saturday. He had three straight decision wins, including a revenge victory against Estaban Armenta of Missouri Valley, who beat Ward in the first round. Ward had an 18-2 tech fall win, a pin in 4:21 and three consecutive wins via decision before taking the third-place match with a no-contest win.
