KCAC and Game One Game Changers of the Month — September

KANSAS — The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) and Commissioner Brandon Buchanan are pleased to announce the Game One "Game Changers of the Month" for the month of September.

The Game Changer of the Month recognition celebrates and highlights KCAC student-athletes and staff members in a wide variety of categories and is intended for those who fit the definition of a "Game Changer" in the eye of the athletic department and institution. Any KCAC student-athlete or staff member who fits their definition of a Game Changer is eligible to be nominated by an athletic staff member from any KCAC member institution.  KCAC athletic staff are encouraged to identify and nominate Game Changers for consideration who are then reviewed and selected through a voting process. These individuals embody the spirit of the KCAC and have separated themselves by making a distinct and noticeable difference and impact on their campus, in the KCAC and beyond.   This award celebrates individuals in the KCAC, in our athletic departments, and on our campuses for their impact.  As described, this recognition is not restricted to statistics and objective measures.

Mitch Houghton
Bethany College
Men's Wrestling Head Coach/Game Management Assistant

Sarah Able
Bethany College
Head Women's Basketball Coach/Senior Woman Leader

Houghton and Able were both nominated by Laura Moreno, Dean of Athletics at Bethany College.

When nominating Houghton and Able, Moreno highlighted their service at the 2025 KCAC Tennis Fall Individual Championships. Both served as site managers, helping the tournament stay on time and run smoothly, as well as providing a positive experience for all KCAC tennis teams. Their work helped to reduce the workload on conference office staff and Bethany tennis staff.

"Mitch and Sarah's help with running a conference tournament is a prime example of their selflessness and dedication to student experience," Moreno acknowledged. "Neither were asked to run a site but volunteered to and did so with enthusiasm. We are grateful for their work and the example of "team first" attitude they exude and live by!"

Cameron Offerle
Bethel College
Women's Volleyball Student-Athlete

Offerle was nominated by Tim Swartzendruber, Director of Athletics at Bethel College.

Offerle currently leads the NAIA in total kills (382 as of Oct. 7) and ranks second in kills per set (4.78). In the month of September, the Threshers went 6-3, led by Offerle's play. In that time frame, she was named the KCAC Women's Volleyball Attacker of the Week twice (Sept. 16 and Sept. 29).

Offerle is not only a standout on the women's volleyball team, but is active in the social work program at Bethel College. She also works in the Bethel admissions department, providing tours for prospective students. Her positive personality and love for Bethel College are qualities that give prospective students and their parents a positive first impression when they visit campus.

"Cameron is not only an outstanding volleyball player, she is a leader on our campus," Swartzendruber remarked. "Her work ethic and leadership on our team have helped make our volleyball program successful. The example she sets across campus is positive for all our students."

Raeann Bromert
University of Saint Mary
Assistant Athletic Director for Health & Performance/Head Athletic Trainer

Bromert was nominated by Hannah VanCleave, Sports Information Director at the University of Saint Mary.

When nominating Bromert, VanClaeve remarked how Bromert is a "pillar of the Saint Mary athletic department & within Saint Mary as a whole," highlighting her dedication to not only her department (athletic training), but to every athlete, team, coach, and staff member at the University. VanCleave, in her first year as the SID at Saint Mary, also pointed out her personal appreciation for Bromert, who has been a "go-to" for any questions she may have, or when she needs an encouraging word.

"In the short time I've been at USM, I have watched Raeann be an integral leader not only in her own department, but in every department, program, & with every staff member & athlete that might need her," VanCleave said. "She had never been too busy for my numerous questions, nor is she ever too busy to show up & support the Spires in everything they're doing. Nothing she does goes unnoticed."

KCAC Game Changers will also be recognized and celebrated at a designated event to be determined.
