WICHITA, Kan. — Three current women's flag football players from the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC), two KCAC women's flag football head coaches, and a future KCAC women's flag football student-athlete took part in the 2024 International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Flag Football World Championships in Lahti, Finland in late August.
The players from the conference that took part in the tournament were Chihiro Iwata of Kansas Wesleyan University, and Tatiana Dos Santos and Addison Orsborn, both of Ottawa University. Iwata played for Japan in the tournament, Santos played for Panama, and Orsborn was part of the U.S. Women's Flag Football National Team.
Amber Clark, the head coach of the women's flag football program at the University of Saint Mary was a teammate of Orsborns on the U.S. National Team. Katie Sowers, the defensive coordinator of the Ottawa women's flag football team, was involved in the tournament as well, serving as the head coach of Italy's national team.
Finally, Olivia Manfre, who will play on Southwestern College's women's flag football team this year, was a part of Australia's women's national team.
23 women's national teams took part in the tournament. The U.S. National team took home the championship, with Japan finishing in third.
