Three KCAC Student-Athletes Named to CSC NAIA Women's Swimming & Diving Academic All-America Team

AUSTIN, Texas — Three KCAC women's swimming & diving student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) NAIA Women's Swimming & Diving Academic All-America team, the organization announced Monday. Annamaria Lowary of Midland University, Sydney Schmidt of Sterling College, and Megan Schroeder of Olivet Nazarene University each earned a spot.

  

All three KCAC honorees are seniors. Lowary is majoring in education, holding a 3.93 GPA. Schmidt holds a perfect 4.0 GPA, majoring in mathematics education. Schmidt is one of only two honorees that have a 4.0 GPA. Schroeder is majoring in civil engineering and holds a 3.97 GPA. 

 

These three student-athletes excelled in the pool in addition to their brilliant work in the classroom. Schmidt was named the KCAC Women's Swimmer of the Year for her performance at the conference championships, and she and Schroeder both earned All-KCAC first-team honors. Lowary earned a spot on the All-KCAC second team. 

 

Hanne te Velthuis of the University of the Cumberlands was named the NAIA Women's Swimming & Diving Academic All-America team member of the year. 

 

Schmidt and Emma Lehmkuhl of the University of the Cumberlands were the only two members of the Academic All-America® NAIA women's swimming & diving teams that boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school, with six members of the team at 3.90 or better. The 14 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.83.


 
The NAIA Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 NAIA Academic All-America® program.
